SAVE THE JOHN MEDLEY LIBRARY

ok ok ok. I know this isn't what this blog was created for. But when one is trying to change the world, one has to make concessions. One hopes one's friends understand.

I have just created this petition:

SAVE THE JOHN MEDLEY LIBRARY ,

because I found out the university is planning on shutting down our library because of VSU. If anyone is from Monash, or feels like supporting Monash, please sign it and tell your friends about it.

Thanks,

xx Hooch

thanks a lot Dee - I think it's ok as it will ever be. btw: Where's the grammar typo in the blurb?

Will, the library they are trying to close is a recreational library. But still v. important for studying, destress, accessing foreign language books, etc.

I don't really know how useful the JML is and I don't really know how useful the general populous of the uni thinks it is (those that actually know what/where it is), but I know that the idea of shutting it down has only been proposed because its one of those lower rungs on the ladder that they think they can kick out and nobody will notice. If enough protest is given, I think they will cave fairly easily.

And if its still around next year, I think I may check it out a little more often, considering I used to walk passed it pretty much every day.

Congratulations all! We have saved the library for next year. The university is helping fund the library next year, and it will also become part of the MSA voluntary ammenities package. After that the future is uncertain, but we have another year in which to formulate a plan to thwart any further plans to quash the library. Hoorah! Thanks guys, I couldn't have done it without you.

I have unpublished the petition, as the library is no longer being closed. But we got up to 896 signatures. I'm sure we would have reached the target of 1000 in a few more days.

Thanks again. :)
